Olivier Nasti demonstrates his traditional bread-making craft
To mark its fourth anniversary, the Levain bakery in Le Chambard invites you to the Bread Festival in Kaysersberg, Alsace, from August 7th to 9th, 2026.
Behind Levain is the signature of Olivier Nasti, who, as Meilleur Ouvrier de France and with two stars in the Michelin Guide, is one of the most renowned chefs in France.
Together with master baker Lucas and his team, breads and baked goods are produced in the bakery, made with selected ingredients and artisanal precision.
For three days, traditional baking craftsmanship and the diversity of bread take center stage. With tastings, insights into the bakery's work, and special moments of enjoyment, the festival invites visitors to discover Levain's philosophy.
On all three days of the event, the morning begins with a breakfast that reflects the bakery's signature style. Freshly baked pastries, sourdough bread with butter and jam, fresh juice, and a hot drink set the tone for the day.
The program is complemented by tastings where visitors can discover Levain's most popular breads and specialties.
A special highlight awaits guests on Saturday morning, August 8th.
During a demonstration, the bakers provide insights into the production of their sourdough bread and show step by step how the breads are made from selected ingredients.
Visitors learn more about the craftsmanship and philosophy that have shaped Levain since its opening.
On Saturday evening, the focus shifts to the interplay of bread and cheese.
At the Bread and Cheese Evening, Levain's bread specialties meet selected cheeses from Maison Lorho, accompanied by wine recommendations from the sommelier team of Le Chambard.
The sweet finale is a scoop of homemade ice cream. The Bread Festival is a tribute to traditional breadmaking and a reminder of the importance of bread in French culinary culture.
